Graveside services for William Stanley Cade, Sr., 77, of Rayville, LA were held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Holly Ridge Baptist Cemetery, Holly Ridge, LA with Bro. Jeff Thomas officiating under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
William was born January 16, 1948 at the Ball & Ellington Clinic, Rayville, and passed away, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, after a 7 year battle with cancer. After graduating from Holly Ridge High School (1966) William joined the Navy. As part of the United States Navy Sea Bees (1966-1970) he served two tours in Vietnam -- exactly 3 years, 1 month and 11 days. After the Navy, William worked all over the United States, Alaska and South America as a Pipeline Welder/Inspector. William was a proud member of the Rayville Masonic Lodge (R.F. McGuire # 209) and the Barack Shriners Temple of Monroe.
William loved hunting and fishing, and gardening. He enjoyed his devoted dogs (Blue & EmmaJean), the antics of his cats (Fat Boy, Brother, & Boots) and his many chickens. He generously shared their eggs. He also loved to share his worldly wisdom and life stories. People knew ‘William said what he meant and meant what he said.’
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 55 years, Linda T. Cade; His pride and joy, adored grandson, William Stanley “Tre” Cade, III; his daughter by marriage, Amanda Mooney; sisters, Henrietta Watson (Billy), Rayville and Melinda Dreyer (Brooks) New Jersey; brothers, Jeff Cade, Rayville and Charles Cade, Rayville; “heart” family member, Connie Cook; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lou and Sherman Townsend; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, William Stanley “Bill” Cade, Jr.; step-son, Larry B. Templeton; and parents, J. D. and Alma Cade.
Pallbearers were Billy Collins, Karey Gwin, Gene Hale, Mike McNaughton, Conner Watson, and Scott Watson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Gary Dee Cheek, Roy Ray Heath, Ronnie Roberts, Sherman Townsend, and Guy Williams.
