Graveside services for Verlon E. Lawrence, 76, of Columbia, LA were held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, LA with Bro. Jeff “Preacher” Eagles officiating under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Mr. Verlon was born December 17, 1946 in Monroe, LA and passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Columbia, LA.
Mr. Verlon retired as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army after 23-years of service. Serving during the Vietnam War and Iraq War. He was the founder of the Combat Vet Motorcycle Association 6-5 NELA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Lawrence and Bernice Parker; 4-sisters and 3-brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Venita Lawrence of West Monroe, LA; children, Matthew Wright of Savannah, GA, William Bradley Lawrence of Columbia, LA, Paulette Jill Phillips of Delhi, LA, and Paulina Collins of Cabot, AR; 9-grandchildren and 2-great grandchildren; siblings, Joel Parker and wife, Shirley, Terry Parker and wife, Sue, Van Parker, Renea May and husband, Alvin, and Mark Parker and wife, Krissy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers were Ron "Hell Raiser" Long, Jerry "Rooster" McCoy, Randy "Gunner" Franks, Joey "Slow Poke" Muirhead, Jeff "Preacher" Eagles, and Ronnie "Dozer" Holcomb.
