Funeral services for Tammy Sue Higdon were held at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel, Rayville, LA with Bro. Rick Aultman officiating.
Born on December 1, 1959, in Centerville, Mississippi, to Treva and Sonny, Tammy was the second daughter of four children. She was raised in Jonesville, LA, where she graduated from Block High School.
Tammy lived a life filled with creativity, curiosity and a deep appreciation for nature. She embraced every opportunity for adventures. She enjoyed bringing her imagination to life by creating beautiful pieces with her own hands. She also had a passion for baking and sharing her creations. Tammy was a fantastic storyteller. A mother to everyone she met. And the best biscuit maker.
Tammy passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Alto, LA, where she had made her home for the past 25 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Houston “Sonny” Higdon, Jr.; Step-father, Oscar Williams; and Son, Phillip Kelly Matthews.
Survivors include her children, Ashley Matthews of Rayville, LA; Devan Long (Andy) of Rayville, LA; Jonah Madden (John) of Cookeville, TN. Grandchildren, Logan Matthews, Landon Matthews, Jaylan Fruge, Kaylee Fruge, Trae Long, Kenzie Zarro, and Mariann Long. Mother, Treva Welch. Brothers, Cody Higdon (Cheryl), Joe Higdon (Brenda), and Creg Higdon (Tana). Sisters, Tia Juana Thompson (Jerry) and Dawn Bailey (Brad). Companion, Richard Griffin. Numerous nieces and nephews.
