Shirley Faye (Sistrunk) Thompson

Funeral services for Shirley Faye Thompson, 82, of Holly Ridge, LA were held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church, Holly Ridge, LA with Bro. David Sistrunk and Bro. Martin Parker officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery, Holly Ridge, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mrs. Shirley was born December 12, 1939 in Delhi, LA and passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 in Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Shirley was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was the Music Director at the church for 45 years. She was the author of Holly Ridge Happenings and helped at Thompson Grocery for over 64 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Thompson; parents, J.C. and Lena Sistrunk; and her siblings, Bernice Lowrey, Dorothy Stokes, “Bud” Sistrunk, and Loyce Robinson.

Survivors include her sons, Greg Thompson and wife, Jeanne of Holly Ridge and John Thompson and friend, Lisa Davis of Holly Ridge; daughter, Vanessa Thompson and friend, Richard Freeland of Holly Ridge; grandchildren, Ben Thompson and wife, Emily, Tyler Cheek and wife, Ashley, Kelsie Cheek, Andy Chappel and wife, Megan, Lindsay McMullen and husband, Ricky, LeAnn Rawls and husband, Justin, and Lena Kate Burdeaux and husband, Tyler; great grandchildren, Ainsley Earl, Ahndi Thompson, Cooper Thompson, Cotten Thompson, Carter Cheek, Aiden Cheek, Lane Chappel, Conley Chappel, Hayes Chappel, Callie Chappel, Mylee Ann McMullen, Lawson Rawls, Maddox Rawls, Charlie Kate Burdeaux, and David Reese Burdeaux, and her brother, Malvin Sistrunk and wife, Sharon.

Pallbearers were Juri Thompson, Terry Thompson, Mike Thompson, Menko Thompson, Trey Stokes, and Curtis Jackson.
