Funeral services for Sammy L. Sharbono, 79, of Rayville, LA were held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Dunn Baptist Church, Dunn, LA with Bro. Bernard Duchesne officiating. Interment was in the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Sammy was born October 14, 1944 in Mangham, LA to the union of Lester Lee and Ollie Crawford Sharbono and passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 in Monroe, LA.
He was enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 13, 1965 where he served until his honorable discharge. He was a Vietnam Veteran. While stationed in Okinawa, Sammy met his first wife, Denise Thormahlen. To this union two sons born, Jason and Justin. They later divorced and Sammy met Sarah Rosilea Lee and they got married in 1986 and remained married until her passing in 2010. In 2011 Sammy married Carolyn Morris and they have been happily married for the last 12 years. He was the love of her life and a gift from God.
He was a man of many talents, from welding, construction worker, carpenter, and school maintenance. Sammy loved anything that involved being outside. His favorite outside hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was a man of faith and he demonstrated his faith by doing anything for anyone at a moment’s notice.
He was active in his local Masonic Lodge and even served as a Shriner clown for the circus. He would also volunteer to drive Shriner patients to and from the Shriners hospital in Shreveport.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester Lee and Ollie Crawford Sharbono; sister, Marlene Deggs; wife, Sarah Sharbono; and a niece, Vickie Coutler.
He leaves behind his family he loved so dearly, his loving wife, Carolyn Sharbono; sons, Jason Sharbono and wife, Shandalyn; Justin Sharbono; step children, Teddy Morris and wife, Rosaland; Kimberly Stafford and husband, Tim; Brian Morris and wife, Karen; and Michelle Denniston and husband, Peter; grandchildren, Leslie Ann Harris and husband, Kody; Zachary Sharbono; great grandson, Lukasey Harris; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; nieces, Marilyn Elliot; Lela Broussard.
In Lieu of flowers the family ask that you make donations to your choice of the Shriners Hospital or the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA.
Pallbearers were Tim Stafford, Ryan Stafford, Brian Morris, Brad Brown, Neal Rawls, and Jonathon Young.
Honorary Pallbearers were Billy Norman, James Brown, Billy Ray Gammill, and Paul Wells.
