Funeral services for R. L. “Shorty” Antley, Sr., 99, of Richmond, LA were held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel, Rayville, LA with Rev. Claude Maddox officiating. Interment was in the Faith Memorial Cemetery, Delhi, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Mr. Antley was born May 25, 1925 in Baskin, LA and passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 in Tallulah, LA after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Antley was a member of Dunn Church of God, Dunn, LA. He was a veteran with the United States Navy. He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Antley; parents, Birtie and William Antley, Sr.; grandson, Timmy Antley; brothers, Pete Antley, Douglas “Hot Shot” Antley; sisters, Kristine “Kit” Martin, Ollie Jones, and Hazel Nichols Crow; and daughter-in-law, Sybil Antley.
Survivors include his children, Nancy Whitten and husband, Floyd of Vicksburg, MS and Russell Antley, Jr. of Holly Ridge; grandchildren, Michael Martin, Reagan Martin and wife, Tiffany, Teresa Martin Gunter, Joey Antley and wife, Tereasa, Jeffrey Antley and wife, Jamie, and Wendy Skeldon and husband, Jay; sister, Maxine Maxwell; 16-great grandchildren and 7-great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
