In Loving Memory of Penny Sue Bankston Wood
Penny Sue Bankston Wood, born November 12, 1958, in Monroe, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of Oak Grove, Louisiana, passed away on February 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Penny was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was rooted in faith and family. She loved the Lord with all her heart and lived her life as a reflection of that faith — with kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. Her relationship with God guided her steps and gave her peace throughout her life.
Her children were her greatest blessing and the center of her world. She loved deeply and unconditionally, always putting her family first. She is survived by her children, Brandon Logue and Nikita Nalley (Joe), and she is now reunited in heaven with her beloved son, Michael Wooddell, who preceded her in death.
Her cherished grandchildren — Destiny Williams, Adalyn Wood, Coleman Arnold, and James Williams — were the light of her life and brought her immeasurable pride and happiness.
Penny also found joy in gardening. She loved tending to her flowers and plants, nurturing them with patience and care — a reflection of the same gentle spirit she showed her family.
She is survived by her siblings: Kathy Bynum (Larry); Tammy Taylor; Anita Hemming (Dave); Chuck Allen (Angela); and Dee Dee Nelson; along with many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Penny was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wooddell; her parents, James Oyde Bankston and Edith Bynum; and her brother, Jerry Bankston.
A small memorial service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
Penny’s legacy is one of faith, love, and devotion. Though her passing leaves a space that can never be filled, her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of those she loved. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
