A graveside service for Peggy Billings, 87, of West Monroe, LA was held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 4, 2021 at New Forest Cemetery in Forest, LA with Joe Losales officiating under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
Ms. Peggy was born on July 13, 1934 in Pioneer, LA and passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 in West Monroe, LA. Some call her mom, MawMaw, and even a few called her Majean, but the most important person called her Peggy.
For those of us who knew them, you couldn’t say “Peggy” without saying “Bob”. Bob and Peggy were high school sweethearts and she was the love of his life. They were married on July 4, 1952, which began their journey of almost 50 years. Ms. Peggy was an amazing role model who taught us the importance of family values, morals and respect. She set the standards high.
The “Welcome” sign was always on at the Billings’ home; whether it was cooking for the community, family and friends or just stopping by for a quick cup of coffee. She was the epitome of a true southern lady inspiring all with her dignity and grace. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Ms. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Brenda Self and Rita Self; son-in-law, Delvin; grandchildren, Jason Self (Bo), Brandy Self, Brent Self (Heather), Meagan Stevens (Michael), and Amanda Prendergast (Joey); and great grandchildren, Adison, Ashton, Huntlee, Adeline, Heidi, and Nora.
Pallbearers were Delvin Price, Jason Self, Brent Self, Adison Self, Ashton Self, Joey Prendergast, and Mike Farr.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
