Patricia Lou Massey Stokes, loving known as “Patsy” left her earthly home, March 23, 2021 in Houston, TX following a courageous battle with cancer. Patsy was met at heavens gates by her parents, E.S. “Pete” and Jimmie Lou Massey along with her fur baby of many years JoJo.
Patsy was born August 28, 1956 in Rayville, LA and is survived by one child, Bonnie Graham Sapp and husband, Michael who she affectionately referred to as “her son”. Her three grandchildren, Eden, Eliza, and Graham who was lovingly called “moon pie” by his “mee maw”. Her siblings, one brother, David E. Massey and wife, Debbie; sisters, Sherry Hough and husband, Alvin “Shorty”, Annette Vondenstein and husband, Wayne, Angie Hewitt and husband, A.C., and Leslie Michele Chason and husband, Dan. She also had numerous nieces and nephews all left to cherish the precious time we had here with her. Patsy was preceded in by her parents and grandparents.
Patsy worked most of her life. At the time of death, she was employed by Affinity Healthcare in Monroe. When she wasn’t working, most of her time was spent surrounded by her beloved daughter, son-in-law and those three precious grandchildren who filled her life with joy. She enjoyed working in her yard and planting flowers for spring, but her time after work was reserved by playing with her grand-children at her house. She will be remembered for her “tell it like it is” attitude and dry humor that she didn’t realize she had. Our family will miss the regular phone calls and her love and presence at family gatherings. Above all else, she was a true friend who always had time to listen.
Patsy became a Christian and asked Jesus into her heart as a young woman. She was a charter member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she remained until her death. It is with this faith and assurance that her family find the peace and comfort needed at this time knowing she is in heaven.
We would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us through calls, texts, cards etc. We are forever grateful to everyone for your concern, words of encouragement and especially the prayers. Also, to the nurses, doctors and staff at MD Anderson and Trinity Hospice in Houston, TX words will never be enough to express our feelings of love for all of you.
