Nolan, fondly known as Rick, a beloved father, grandfather, and Navy Veteran, passed away on August 25, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was 70 years old.
Born on December 26, 1952, in Rayville, Louisiana, Rick loved his family and country. He proudly served in the United States Navy, dedicating 4 years (1972-1976) of his life to protecting and serving his nation. His commitment and bravery earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow servicemen.
After retiring from the Navy, Rick found solace in the peacefulness of nature, particularly through his beloved hobbies of hunting and fishing. The tranquility of the great outdoors provided him with moments of joy and reflection, allowing him to appreciate the wonders of life. Whether it was spending countless hours waiting patiently for the perfect catch or exploring the wilderness with his son, Rick found immense fulfillment in these activities.
However, above all else, Rick’s heart belonged to his family, and his love for them was immeasurable. His greatest joy came from being a caring father and doting grandfather. The love he had for his grandkids was unparalleled, and he cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was telling them his story that he wrote, taking them places with him, or simply being present, he treasured the time he had with his grandchildren, and they were the light of his life.
He is predeceased in death by his parents Nolan Cain and Leta Branch Cain, and brother-in-law Lionel Flotte. He is survived by his children Michael Cain and wife Kristi of Valley Springs Arkansas, Anthony Cain of Chattanooga Tennessee; Grandchildren River Cain of Port Richey Florida, Marley Cain, Roman Cain, Meadow Cain, and Willow Cain of Valley Springs Arkansas, and step-grandchildren Christian Campbell, Jazmyne Campbell, and Landry Campbell of Valley Springs Arkansas; Two sisters, Glenna Flotte of Mandeville Louisiana, and Rhonda McManus and husband Milton of Rayville Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all those who have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 4, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Holley Funeral Home in Rayville, La.
The funeral service will be held at the same location on September 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial services at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to welcome family and friends to join them in fellowship and lunch at Big Johns in Rayville after services at 11:45 a.m.
