Funeral services for Nicky O’Neal Smith, 83, of Alto, LA were held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel, Rayville, LA with Bro. Jeff Thomas and Bro. Alan Miller officiating. Interment was in the Crowville Masonic Cemetery, Crowville, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Mr. Nicky was born May 14, 1941 in Crowville, LA and passed away Friday, August 2, 2024 in Monroe, LA.
Mr. Nicky was a heavy equipment operator for Benson & Elmore for 10 years. He was the floor supervisor for 17 years for Howard Brothers in Monroe, LA. Lastly, he was the warehouse manager for Farmers Furniture in Dublin, GA until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of Dublin First Baptist Church where he served as the bus driver for 18 ½ years and Sunday School teacher for 14 ½ years. He was a current member of Start Baptist Church for the last 17 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Bertie Mae Smith and great grandson, Gage Mayhall.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Kathleen Smith; children, Rhonda Hendrix and husband, Tom, Jr.; Christine Allen and husband, Brian, Nicky “Neal” O’Neal Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Dina Hendrix Mayhall and husband, Sawyer; Bradley Allen and wife, Carrie; Ashley Smith Wagner and husband, Jacob; Taylor Allen and fiancé, Chapman Bazer; Hannah Smith; great grandchildren, Rachel Allen; Gabriel Allen; Tilly Mayhall; Tristin Mayhall; siblings, Ronnie Victor Smith; Debbie Cox; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Crow, Bradley Allen, Greg Temple, Fred Moore, Brian Allen, Tom Hendrix, Jr., and Ron Mason.
The family request donations in his memory to be made to Start Baptist Church Children and Youth Ministry.
