Maxie Ray Brown

Funeral services for Maxie Ray Brown, Sr., 89, of Lake Providence, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 16, 2024, at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Lake Providence City Cemetery, in Lake Providence, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, in Oak Grove, LA. 

Mr. Maxie was born on June 30, 1935, in Shreveport, LA and passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in his home in Lake Providence, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Willie S. Brown; brother, Troy Allen, Sr.; sister, Betty Milton; grandson, Steven Smith, Jr; and great grandson, Cash Smith.

Mr. Maxie had a huge heart and loved his family; he worked hard his whole life to support and provide for them. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Maxie loved his time working for the US post office but really loved when he retired and began farming full time. His favorite thing of all was having his family and friends over for cook outs. Maxie was a master griller, fish fryer, and overall cook. He enjoyed cooking for others and being with his family. Maxie was a beloved husband, father, papaw, and friend. He will be missed by his family, friends, and community.     

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Emma Flo Brown of Lake Providence, LA; daughter, Kay Brown of Leaksville, MS; son, Maxie Brown, Jr. of Lake Providence, LA, daughter, Nan Brown of Baskin, LA, son, Raymond Brown and wife, Stephine of Conway, AR; son, Stacy Smith of Lake Providence, LA, son, Steven Smith of Lake Providence, LA, daughter, Michelle Coleman and husband, Scott of Lake Providence, LA; 20-grandchildren; 28-great grandchildren; 4-great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Tyson Havard, Patrick Fife, Brody Brown, Logan Brown, Phillip Stilwell, Ryan Byrd, Dalton Smith, and Cody Smith.

Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 16, 2024, at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, in Oak Grove, LA.
