Matthew Joshua Brakefield, 40, of Rayville, LA was born July 23, 1981 in Monroe, LA and passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 in Baton Rouge, LA.

Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Brakefield; grandparents, Bill and Nelda Brakefield and Woody and Sybil Perkins; and his cousin, Scott Blake.

Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Brakefield of Rayville; son, Landon Orr; siblings, Jay Brakefield and wife, Chastidy of Start, Michael Brakefield and wife, Faith of Start, and Mandy Brakefield of Rayville; nieces and nephews, Garrett Brakefield, Hudson Brakefield, Grayson Brakefield, Holt Brakefield, Ava Brakefield, Liam Brakefield, Alex Townsand, and Jade Brakefield; uncles and aunts, Rusty Brakefield and wife, Janet, Jimmy Shoemaker, Betty Weaver and husband, Richard, and Brenda Castleberry.

Visitation was held from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM, Friday, April 22, 2022 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
