Funeral services for Mary Virginia Nielsen, 89, of Rayville, LA were held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel, Rayville, LA with Dr. Chuck Johnston officiating. Interment was in the McKnight Cemetery, Holly Ridge, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mrs. Mary was born July 3, 1935 in Rayville, LA and passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025 in West Monroe, LA after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Mary was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a past member of the Rayville Ladies Franchise League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Nielsen; parents, William Henry and Mittie Johnston; children, David Johnston and Pam Ingram; sister, Mavis Crawford and Merline Bailey; and brothers, Royce Johnston, Bobby Johnston, and Charles Johnston.

Survivors include her children, Dennis Johnston, Clifford Johnston, Debbie Pope, Mickey Johnston, and Brian Nielsen; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
