Leona Eubanks

Graveside service for Leona Eubanks, 96, of Oak Grove, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Unity Cemetery in Pioneer, LA with Rev. Dewayne Mayo officiating under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Oak Grove, LA.   

Zella Leona Welch Eubanks was born January 23, 1929, in Lake Providence, LA to Lee and Laura Welch. Married in 1949 to William Robert Eubanks. She had 2 children, William Steven (Billy) Eubanks, Sr., and Judy Kaye Eubanks Atkins (Tommy). Lovingly raised a precious grandson, William Steven Eubanks, Jr.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Laura Welch; husband of 49 years, William R. Eubanks; grandsons, Harvey Eugene Eubanks and Thomas R. Atkins, Jr.; and granddaughter, Harley Eubanks.

Leona loved and enjoyed people, she loved laughter and smiles. So many times, she would say; “I have another funny to tell!” She loved children; her husband would say she’s happy, she has a baby told hold.

Leona was of service in the nursing field. She was an O.R. Tech, trained as an activity coordinator and nurse’s aide. She loved to cook and have family and visitors at her table. She had a warm and welcoming sprit, loved and trusted God and taught her children to. She will be missed by all who love her.       

Survivors include her son, William S. Eubanks; daughter, Judy Kaye Eubanks Atkins (Tommy); grandchildren, Steven Eubanks, Robert Dale Atkins, Jody Alan Atkins; great grandchildren, Dylan Atkins, Makaria Atkins, Jude Atkins, Noah Atkins, Elijah Atkins, Addy Atkins, Daisy Grace Atkins, Ryan Eubanks and one due in April; great-great grandchildren Oliver Frith and Ember underwood; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Bedenbender, Clint Bedenbender, John Welch, Scotty Creech and Eugene Vernon. 

Honorary Pallbearer will be Howard "Buddy" Atkins.  

Visitation will be 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Oak Grove, LA.
