Funeral services for Landon Scott Mooney, 36, of Rayville, LA were held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 5, 2025 at River of Life Church, Winnsboro, LA with Sis. Renita Hemphill and Bro. Dave Phillips officiating. Internment was in Kilpatricks Serenity Gardens, West Monroe, LA. under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Landon was born April 12, 1989 in Monroe, LA and passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 in Rayville, LA. To know Landon was to be picked on—relentlessly, sarcastically, and with deep affection. Sarcasm was his second language, and if he didn’t give you a hard time, you probably wondered if something was wrong. Beneath all the jokes and jabs, though, was a man with a heart too big for his own good. Landon was a “Big Guy” with a soft heart—the kind of man who could holler across a ball field one minute and turn around and hug a child with the gentlest hands the next.
He loved cars, trucks, and the Texas Longhorns almost as much as he loved his people, but nothing and no one ever came close to the love he had for Hillary and their five children. When they began dating eight years ago, Hillary had two daughters, Brookelyne and Brayleigh, and Landon had a daughter, Hainsley. Together, they blended their lives and their love into a family that only grew stronger. They later welcomed two sons—Brennon and surprise baby, Bentlee—completing the crew that Landon adored with his whole heart. What they built wasn’t just a household, it was a home, rooted in laughter, loyalty, and endless love.
He was a constant—escorting Brookelyne for every event from homecoming to cotillion, coaching softball for Hainsley and Brayleigh, gearing up for little league with Brennon, teaching Bentlee special kiss patterns, and embracing every child who crossed his path like they were his own. On the weekends, you could find him in the pool with Hillary and the kids.
That’s who Landon was—loud, loyal, protective, hilarious, and kind to his core. His presence filled a room, and his absence will be felt just as deeply.
