Kenneth "Ken" M. McKay, Jr.

Graveside services for Kenneth “Ken” M. McKay, Jr., 66, of Mangham, LA were held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Lone Cherry Cemetery, Mangham, LA with Bro. David Shirley and Mr. Greg Hogue officiating under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mr. Ken was born August 7, 1956 in Rayville, LA and passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022 in Mangham, LA. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Mercer and father, Kenneth M. McKay, Sr.

Ken followed in his father’s footsteps serving northeast Louisiana as a certified land surveyor.  He loved the outdoors and was meticulous in his work.  Many remember him for one of his favorite hobbies being Coach Ken. He spent his spare time coaching many local baseball and softball teams.  His classmates and friends know he was the most passionate about his music and he could have easily been a D. J.  He will be missed by many, but his music remains and a reminder of his laughter, kindness, and smiles.

Survivors include his children, Jesse McKay of Mangham and Haley McKay of Seattle, WA; siblings, Melanie Gable and husband, Rhett of Archibald and Scott McKay and wife, Jessica of Archibald; stepmother, Elaine McKay of Mangham; life partner, Daina Gathright of Baton Rouge, LA; mother of his children, Debra Brunson and Perry Wray of Mangham; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members on the Mercer and McKay side.

Pallbearers were Earl Edwards, Scott McKay, Lasley Thomason, Greg Hogue, Kevin Duvall, and Cole Gregorie.
