Kenneth Adams

Kenneth Adams was welcomed into heaven on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024.  He was born in the small community of Liddieville near Winnsboro, Louisiana to William Troy Adams and Ruby Coughran Adams July 6, 1936.  Kenneth grew up in Start, graduating from Start High School. He went on to receive an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Business College in Monroe, Louisiana. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1963 and worked for Red Ball Motor Freight.  Within a few years, he became Director of Transportation for the Louisiana Public Service Commission. After retirement in 1996, Kenneth moved back to Start where he treasured being near his brother and sisters and attending Start Baptist Church with lifelong friends.

Mr. Adams was predeceased by his parents, Troy and Ruby Adams, his sisters, Gloria Walker and Aline Robertson, his nephew, Erek Adams and niece, Michelle Smith.    

He is survived by his daughter, Alison Adams Black (Christopher Phipps), his sister Jewellene Robinson and brother Bobby Adams (Bonnie), nephew James Robertson (Nylene), nephew Ben Robinson (Staci), nephew Michael Walker (Wanda) and niece Sondra Dowdle (Jim).

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Azalea Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care in Monroe, Louisiana, who were so attentive to Mr. Adams while he was a resident there for the last few months. Also, we appreciate the long-time relationship and support of Ken’s dear friend Forrest O’Neal.

Visitation was at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel, Rayville, LA at 9:00 am followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am. Kenneth was laid to rest at Start Cemetery near his beloved family. Pallbearers were Forrest O’Neal, Christopher Phipps, Ben Robinson, Michael Walker, and Elliot Colvin.
