Funeral services for John Pat Cox “Coach Cox”, 93, of Start, LA were held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Start Baptist Church, Start, LA with Bro. Jimmy Pelley officiating. Interment was in the Start Cemetery, Start, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mr. John was born July 22, 1931 in Clear Lake, LA and passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 at his residence with his family around him.

Johnny Pat served in the Air Force as an educator, but wanted to Coach and teach. He was a Coach and math teacher for many years at Riverfield Academy and Rayville High School. He spent his life loving his family. He and his sweet heart Bobbie were married for 73 years. He showed love for all of his family and being around them was the joy of his life. John was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Breann Cox; and parents, Fred and Marrianne Cox.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Bobbie Cox of Start, LA; children, Patti Malone and husband, David “Bo” of Start, LA and Gary Edwin Cox and wife, Karen of Start, LA; grandchildren, Misti Del Rio and husband, Samuel, Christi Turbeville and husband, Christopher, and Jacob Malone; great grandchildren, Kendall Gibson and husband, Will and Jordan Sanders; sister, Ferdonia Seely; brother, Randy Cox and wife, Elaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Christopher Turbeville, Jacob Malone, Jimmy Dale Greer, Zach Sharbono, Will Gibson, and Lyle Russell.
