Mr. James was born January 16, 1951 in Zwolle, LA and passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 in Rayville, LA. James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Chowns.

Survivors include his children, Joe Carter of West Monroe, Gary Chowns of Atlanta, GA, and Kevin Chowns of West Monroe; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Gene Chowns and wife, Jeanette, Greg Chowns and wife, Rocio, Tracy Chowns and wife, Darlene, and Stacy Chowns; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
