Funeral services for James Evans, 85, of West Monroe, LA were held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Asbury United Methodist Church, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Nick Wagner officiating. Interment was in the Greer Cemetery, Rayville, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mr. James was born May 18, 1938 in Rayville, LA and passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 in Monroe, LA.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sadie Salsbury Evans and parents Jesse and Willie Mae Evans

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Sylvia Schloemer Evans; children, Mike Evans and wife, Stacy; Lea Ann Bergman and husband, Gary; step-children, Renee Ring and husband, Pat; Rachel Hernandez and husband, Fred; Angela Dismukes and husband, Joseph; Cheryl Thompson and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Kelly Evans, Kimberly Nazario, and husband, Luis; Nic Anderko; Sarah Grace Anderko; Adora Ritz and husband, Michael; Bethany Dismukes; Lillian Thompson; Amelia Thompson; Hillary Cheek and husband, Brad; great grandchildren, Whitney Cheek; Wesley Nazario; Layla Ritz; and a special thanks to Dr. Roy and staff at St. Francis Medical Center.

Pallbearers were Gary Bergman, Nic Anderko, Robert Lawrence, Pat Ring, and Daniel Thompson.
