Graveside services for Howard Gene Caviness, Sr., 82, of Monroe, LA formerly of Rayville, LA were held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mr. Howard was born September 5, 1938 in Shreveport, LA and passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 in Monroe, LA.

Mr. and Mrs. Caviness were lifelong residents of Richland Parish. They lived in Delhi, Rayville, and then settled in their final home in Warden, LA. Mr. Caviness will be buried next to his wife in the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery south of Rayville, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Bullard Caviness; brother, Bobby Joe Caviness; and his parents, Howard Ernest and Lorine Coats Caviness.

Survivors include his only child, Howard “Tater” Caviness, Jr. and wife, Jada; his sister, Barbara Hopkins, and their brother, Jerry Wayne Caviness; grandchildren, Justin Caviness and wife, Melissa, Ashley Maxwell and husband, Jeff, Logan Caviness, and Hunter Caviness, and fiancé, Cassidy; his numerous great grandchildren, nieces and a nephew.
