Herman Sanford

Herman Sanford, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 89 in Monroe, Louisiana surrounded by his family. His life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, devotion, and family, which will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege to know him.

Funeral services for Herman were held at 11 AM, Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel with Bro. Norman Bryant officiating. Interment followed at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana, honoring his service to our country. Herman served 2 years in the armed forces. 

Herman was a devoted husband to Carolyn Sanford, forming a partnership that inspired and uplifted their family. Together, they shared countless memories and a love that only deepened over the years.

He is survived by his spouse Carolyn, three children: Derenda Spann and her husband Joe, Greg Sanford and his wife Kathy, and Chastity Lewis and her husband Tim. Herman took immense pride in being a father and was a guiding light for his children.

Herman’s legacy extends to his grandchildren: Taylor and Drew McCarty, Tyler and Kelsea Spann, and Caden, Cassie, and Colton Lewis. His laughter and wisdom enriched their lives, creating bonds that will endure for generations. He was blessed with great-grandchildren Samson and Katherine McCarty, and Caroline and Joseph Spann, who brought him immense joy.

Herman was honored by pallbearers Shelton Sanford, Edward Shoemaker, Joe Spann, Tyler Spann, Tim Lewis, and Caden Lewis. Colton Lewis served as an honorary pallbearer.

As we gather to celebrate Herman's incredible life, let us remember the love, laughter, and lessons he shared with each of us. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain alive in our hearts.
