Gloria Lucille Beach Nielsen moved to her Heavenly home peacefully and quietly on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the age of 97. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2026, at Dunn Baptist Church, Dunn, LA. Her memorial service followed at 2:00 p.m. at Dunn Baptist Church with Bro. Bernard Duchesne and Mr. Doug Nielsen officiating. Interment was in Newton Cemetery in Delhi, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Gloria was born April 8, 1929, in Rayville, LA to Noah Webster “Ducket” Beach and Jo Leslie Walker Beach. She lived most of her life in Delhi, Louisiana, and had moved to St. Joseph Assisted Living in April, 2017. After a fall the day after Easter, she had moved to Ouachita Rehab and Nursing Facility in Monroe, and her final move was to Heaven.
She made many friends through her life’s journey. After she graduated from Rayville High School, she married the love of her life, Otho Nielsen, on May 24, 1946, and they were blessed with almost 67 years of marriage and three wonderful children. She was a housewife, Mother, and great cook. As her children began to graduate from high school, she decided to go to work outside the home. She and Otho wanted their children to go to college and graduate, which they all did. She worked for Farm Bureau Insurance for twenty years, Shelter Insurance for two years, and for State Farm Insurance for eight years. She enjoyed helping everyone with insurance needs.
When Gloria was only 18 months old, her mother passed away, so she learned to cook and keep house at a young age as her siblings married and left home. She was a great cook and everyone enjoyed her dumplings, steak and gravy, banana cake, and many grilled items. She enjoyed sharing her cooking. She and Otho always had a large garden and enjoyed sharing their vegetables with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Otho Nielsen, grandson John Russell, son-in-law Jim Russell, grandson-in-law Rollie Emerson, as well as her siblings.
She accepted Jesus as her Savior in April, 1951, at Dunn Baptist Church. She was a very strong Christian and served as a Sunday School teacher, VBS leader and teacher, and church clerk for several years.
She is survived by her children Audrey Hammack (Jim), Jerry Nielsen (Ann), Billy Nielsen (Kim), grandchildren Elizabeth Emerson and great grandson John Austin Emerson, Kelly Nielsen Herrin (Kyle) and great grandson Will, Laura Nielsen (Seth Hardiman), grandson Doug Nielsen (Lauren) and great granddaughters Elisabeth and Georgia Nielsen, grandson Jeff Nielsen (Leslie) and great granddaughter Lilly Nielsen and soon to be great grandson Joseph Nielsen.
Pallbearers were Kyle Herrin, Jessie Nielsen, Phil Phillips, Scott Johnson, Eddie Fuller, and Randy Fryer. Honorary pallbearers were Troy Thomas, John Thomas, and Roy Thomas.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Assisted Living for the nine years Mother lived there, the friends she made, and their great care. We would also like to thank Ouachita Rehab and Nursing for the care she received there and for the very short care of Elara Caring.
