Constance "Connie" (Piro) Burgess

Funeral services were held for Constance (Connie) Piro Burgess on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rayville, LA, with Father Philip Pazhayakari officiating, a graveside service followed at Prewitt Cemetery in Mangham, LA. under the direction of Brown and Holley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Connie was born July 28, 1922 in Mangham, Louisiana. She lived in Mangham her entire life where she worked in her brother’s grocery store.  She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She enjoyed cooking her weekly Sunday dinners for her family, attending all of her grandchildren’s activities, and working in her yard and garden.  She passed away on the evening of July 3, 2019, in Rayville, LA. She was 96 years old.  Mrs. Connie will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Connie was preceded in death by her husband Grover Burgess Jr, her parents Salvatore and Johanna Piro, and her three brothers Sam, George, and Nicholas Piro.

She is survived by her two children Grover (Deborah) Burgess and Sheri (Donald) Letlow, her four grandchildren Ben (Kimberly) Burgess, Lane (Daphne) Letlow, Hanna Burgess, and Mary Ella Burgess, her five great-grandchildren Mckenna, Arden, Britton, Jameson, and Everett, her two sisters Angie Maggio and Joan Flint, a host of nieces and  nephews, and her extended Letlow family. 

A special thanks from the family goes to the staff at Colonial Manor Nursing Home and Caring Hands Hospice.

Pallbearers were Ben Burgess, Lane Letlow, Will Green, James Letlow, Gary Piro, and Mike Maggio. Honorary Pallbearers include Jessie Lee Harris, Larry Maggio, Buddy Jones, Bo Pickering, Wayne Smart, and Bill Letlow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart St. Vincent DePaul Society.
