Funeral services for Clyde Towers, Jr., 90, of Rayville, LA were held at 12:00 PM, Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Brown-Holley Chapel, Rayville, LA with Bro. Charles Ellzey officiating. Interment was in the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Mr. Clyde was born March 17, 1933 in Rayville, LA and passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in Monroe, LA.
Clyde was a veteran with the USMC serving 20 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars, where he received two purple hearts. He retired from the U.S. Soil Conservation Office and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Rayville, LA. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and poppa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Leila Towers, Sr.; son, Jimmy Wayne Towers; sisters, Bernice Shoemaker and Lula Mae Harrell.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Charline Towers of Rayville; daughter, Dollie Atkins of Monroe; sons, Clyde Towers, III and wife, Carol of Phoenix, AZ, Jerry Towers and wife, Charlotte of Dunnellen, FL, Tim Towers and wife, Karyn of Tucson, AZ; 14-grandchildren; 25- great grandchildren; 1-great great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Clay Atkins, Trevor Towers, Jordan Towers, Aiden Towers, David Butler, Scoot Stephenson.
