A memorial gathering for Carl Elton Cox, 81, of Oak Grove, LA will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel, in Oak Grove, LA.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carl Cox. He was born on October 9, 1943, in Pioneer, LA and passed peacefully in Oak Grove, LA on September 8, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Hugh Cox and Odie Smothers Cox; and his brothers, Coy, Basil, Eddie and Stan Cox.
Carl was well known for his gentle, kind demeanor and lived life just as he wanted. He never met a stranger and was loved by many. He loved to sit and visit and tell stories of his “younger days”. He was a Motorcycle enthusiast and rode every chance he could. Carl’s passion was playing music, and he took every opportunity to play his steel guitar for anyone that would listen. He will be missed beyond measure.
Survivors include his brothers, Jerry Baugus and Morris Cox; sisters, Betty Pippenger, Vonnie Schuster, Jan Pennington, and Kathy Cleveland and husband, Joe; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Crossroads Hospice.
