Funeral services for Alvin “Johnny” Cannon, 74, of Rayville, LA were held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Rayville First Assembly of God Church, Rayville, LA with Pastor Mike Jackson and Rev. Calvin Stapp officiating. Interment was in the Gwin Cemetery, Mangham, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mr. Johnny was born December 18, 1948 in Monroe, LA and passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Rayville, LA.

Mr. Johnny was a member of the Rayville Assembly of God Church and was an ordained Baptist Minister since he was 16 or 17 years old. He worked 50 plus years in the convenience stores, Cannon Grocery in Richland Parish since 1968, he retired in 2017.  Mr. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, James “John” Cannon and Barbara Gilley Cannon; sister, Vonda Cannon; and grandchild, Jackson Kennedy.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Cannon of Rayville, LA; children, Tony W. Cannon and wife, Toni of Batesville, AR and Jonann Cannon Milner and husband, Jeff of Rayville, LA; siblings, James R. Cannon of Rayville, Debra Stapp and husband, Calvin of Rayville, LA, and Charles “Chuck” Cannon and wife, Amy of Rayville, LA; grandchildren, Justin Cannon and wife, Victoria, Jacob Cannon and wife, Hanna, Jordane Brown and husband, Seth, Jenni Kennedy, Jonah Kennedy and wife, Macy, Paige Weatherspoon and husband, Bradley, Dusti Thomas and husband, Trey, Lily Milner, and Jeff David Miller; great grandchildren, Brooks Cannon, Bennett Cannon, John Keith Cannon, and Sawyer Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Justin Cannon, Jacob Cannon, Luke Cannon, Sherman Ashley, Noah Foreman, Sammy Lee. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Addison Thompson, Dr. Lester Wayne Johnson, Sheriff Gary Gilley, Dennis Thames, Robert Boughton, Bubba Moore, and Chris Chapples.
