Charles Elizey officiating. Interment followed in the Start Cemetery, Start, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville.
Ann Hendrix Weeks Jones was born Sept. 12, 1934, in Holly Ridge and lived her life committed to her Lord and family. Her commitment ended at her death Sept. 28, 2018.
Ann spent her childhood with her large family, moving frequently due to her father’s sharecropping occupation. She shared stories of picking cotton as a young child.
At 18, Ann moved to Rayville and lived with her brother, Doc Hendrix, his wife Melba and their son, Kirby. She began a retail sales career and met her husband, John Bud Weeks. They wed at First Baptist Church in Start and committed themselves to each other, their family, and the Lord. Their commitment to each other ended with J.B.’s death, also on Sept. 28, in 1992.
Years later, Ann moved to Simsboro and married George Jones. She built a new life that included tending her garden, raising cattle, traveling and becoming involved at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston. She made many new friends there and nurtured those friendships even after George’s death and her return to Rayville.
On her return to Rayville, she became involved again with Woodlawn Baptist, of which she was a charter member.
During her life, Ann loved entertaining, volunteering and caring for others. Her church family, her community and especially her family greatly miss her. Her family and friends will remember her as a woman who feared the Lord.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Zellra Aulds Hendrix; brothers, Slick Hendrix and Doc Hendrix; sisters, Lorece Johnson, Emma Gray Hallman, and Wanda Faye Hendrix; and her first and second husband.
