Interment was in the Bayou Macon Cemetery, Pioneer, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mr. Alton was born July 23, 1954 in Pioneer, LA and passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 in Monroe, LA.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Emily Joann Copes; parents, Alton E. and Shirley Copes; brother, Keith Copes; aunt, Lorene McBroom; and uncle, Philip McCandlish.

Survivors include his children, Joni Smith and husband, Kenny of Monroe, LA; Jason Copes of Monroe, LA; Joel Copes of Monroe, LA; sister, Becky Blakenship of Crossett, AR; brother, Shane Copes of Crossett, AR; grandchildren, Haley Blakenship, Neal Smith, Jesse Smith, Joey Smith, Troy Luke Smith, and Karli Copes; aunts, Lula McCandlish Tolar and Lilly Mae Crain and husband, Ike; uncles, Donald McCandlish and Wilmer McCandlish; and numerous nieces and nephews.
